Gut Health — Genuine Science or Just Marketing?

455 votes65% → Real scienceLIVE

The gut health industry is worth hundreds of billions of dollars and growing at nearly 10% per year. Probiotic supplements, prebiotic fibers, fermented foods, microbiome tests and gut-specific diets have become mainstream. The science behind the gut-brain connection is real — research links gut microbiome health to immunity, mental health, inflammation and chronic disease. But many nutritionists warn that the wellness industry has vastly outrun the science. Most probiotic supplements contain strains with no clinical evidence. Microbiome tests cannot yet reliably guide dietary decisions. Many gut health products are expensive placebos. Is gut health genuine science or has it become the most successful wellness marketing campaign of the decade?
